Contemporary with Shireen

Hi my name is Shireen Talhouni and I choreograph and teach contemporary dance in Amman. In 2012, whilst living in London, I took a leap of faith and left my successful career in architecture to study dance at the Trinity Laban conservatoire, a leading centre for contemporary dance and music. Dance, or put more simply, movement, is a need. Since the beginning of time this has been our way of connecting with ourselves and others. When we don't move we lose our connection with our desires, our hopes and our dreams. We lose our ability to process the bad times and celebrate the good. Without dance we simply stop living. I started this class because I believe in the enormous and often underrated potential of contemporary dance to affect change in the individual and the community. Every person in the world has a unique way of being. We learn technique to help us move in space efficiently and with purpose. We learn about contemporary dance with the intention of discovering ourselves through it. Class is on every Wednesday 7pm at the French Institute. All levels welcome.
